Autocar Trucks

Middle Atlantic Transportation was based in New Britain, CT. The company was purchased by Branch Motor Express of New York, NY in 1969. Photos taken in 1942 by LIFE magazine photographer, William C. Shrout.

I could not find much information on this trucking company but the trucks they used (at least in most of these pictures) were Autocar Trucks. If anyone can supply more info, it would be appreciated.

The Autocar Company started in 1899 in Ardmore, Pennsylvania as a manufacturer of Brass Era automobiles, and from 1907, trucks. The last cars were produced in 1912, but the company continued as a truck maker until 1953 when they were taken over by the White Motor Company.
