Mornflake Cards - Finale

As promised here are the final 5 cards in the set - These cards are part of a series of 25, un-numbered Mornflake Oats real photo airplane cards produced in 1953 by Morning Foods Ltd, North Western Mills, Crewe, England.

The de havilland Heron is a rugged, 14 seat feederliner and passenger aircraft for services where traffic is limited. It has a fixed undercarriage, but a new version with retractable undercarriage is now being built. It first flew in May, 1950, has an all-up weight of 12,500 lbs. Maximum cruising speed 177 m.p.h.

The Gannet - Latest product of the Fairey Aviation Co. Ltd. Its power is provided by one Armstrong Siddeley, Double-Mamba, turbo-prop engine of nearly 3,000 s.h.p. It is an anti-submarine reconnaisance aircraft, the radar equipment being carried in a retractable radome beneath the rear of the fuselage; a crew of three is carried.

The Vickers Supermarine Attacker is the first jet fighter to go into service with the Royal Navy. The three aircraft seen in this photograph belong to No. 800 Squadron, the first to be formed. Maximum speed - 690 m.p.h. at sea level. Armament consists of four 20-millimetre British Hispano cannon in the wings or alternatively, two 1,000 lbs. bombs or rocket projectiles.

The de Havilland 110 is one of the latest British fighters. It is powered by two Rolls-Royce Avon turbo-jet engines, rated at more than 7,000 lbs. static thrust each. It is a two-seat, radar-equipped, all-weather and night fighter. First supersonic flight was on 9th April, 1952, piloted by the late Mr. John Derry, and has gone through the sound barrier on many occasions since.

The Vickers Viliant was the first four engined, jet propelled bomber to go into production for the R.A.F. being ordered "straight off the drawing board." It is believed to be the formidable bomber of its class in the world. Power is provided by four Rolls-Royce Avon turbo-jet engines of over 7,000 lbs. static thrust each.
