Mornflake Cards - Part 4

As promised here is Part 4 - These cards are part of a series of 25, un-numbered Mornflake Oats real photo airplane cards produced in 1953 by Morning Foods Ltd, North Western Mills, Crewe, England. I will post the final 5 cards from this complete set in a few days.

The Hawker Sea Hawk is a single seat fighter for use in the Royal Navy. It has one Rolls-Royce Nene turbo-jet engine. Maximum speed - 610 m.p.h., radius of action 1,000 miles. The pilot's cockpit is pressurised and its forward position gives him the good view needed for deck landing.

The Airspeed Ambassador is notable for its particular graceful lines. It is the latest piston engined aircraft to go into service with B.E.A. where it is known as the Elizabethan Class. Powered by two Bristol Centaurus engines of 2,600 h.p. each giving it a cruising speed at 20,000 ft. of 270 m.p.h. It carries up to 47 passengers in notable comfort.

The Handley-Page Marathon trainer, powered by four de Havilland Gypsy Queen engines of 345 h.p. each, first flew in 1952. Being used for advanced R.A.F. navigational training it is equipped with the latest navigational trainign aids, including Rebecco, Gee and radio compasses. Maximum speed 230 m.p.h. and cruising speed 200 m.p.h. Normal load is a crew of two and 20 passengers.

The Avro Vulcan long-range medium bomber is the world's first four-jet aircraft of delta planform. The power plant consists of four Rolls-Royce Avon engines of more than 7,000 lbs. static thrust each. Development work was carried out on a series of three single-engined aircraft of the same planform known as the Avro 707, 707A, 707B.

The Vickers Supermarine Swift is a single-seat, swept-wing jet fighter in "super-priority" production for the R.A.F. The engine is a Rolls-Royce Avon turbo-jet. It is believed to be capable of attaining the speed of sound. On 10th July, 1952, it flew to Brussels from London in approximately 18 minutes at an average speed of 665.9 miles per hour.
